An overview of MyDay by Shelagh Mulvaney, Ph.D. and Sarah Vaala, Ph.D.
What is the app for?
The MyDay app is a tool to help young people with diabetes track important things in their day-to-day lives related to feeling good and self-care. A lot of times, we know what we should do to take care of diabetes, but our daily lives get in the way. It's hard to see what those things are by ourselves. Keeping track of how you feel, who you are with, where you are, and other day-to-day things can help you see patterns and know what to change.
What does the app do?
Each day, the MyDay app will have questions for you to fill out about your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime. You can answer the questions any time before midnight that night. You can also fill out questions whenever you have a snack.
The app has been built to be used with a glucose meter that talks with your smartphone. The MyDay app stores your responses to daily questions as well as your blood sugar values and provides you with feedback through the "Trackers" so you can track your day-to-day life and relate it to how you take care of your diabetes day-to-day and week-to-week.
Sharing data from MyDay?
You can share your trackers with anyone you choose: friends, parents, coach, or your diabetes nurse or doctor! Just hit the share button and decide how to send the trackers: facebook, email, text message, Instagram, or any other way. Your name will not be on the trackers. If you don't share, only the research team will see your information from the app.
