Hélène Leduc

Hélène Leduc's death in a health-care facility was initially deemed the city's first homicide of 2015, under unusual circumstances. Leduc had been shot in the neck and left paralyzed five years earlier — in 2010 — during a robbery at an SAQ outlet in Baie-d'Urfé. The shooting remains unsolved. A coroner reportedly later attributed Leduc's death to natural causes. A representative from the coroner's office was not available to confirm this over the holiday period.

Bobby Pellicano

Age: 26

Location: An apartment above a store at 1121 Ste-Catherine St. W.

Bobby Pellicano died after being stabbed at a party. A fight reportedly broke out after Pellicano asked that the music be turned down so he could look for a lost necklace. Emmanuel Love Luberisse, 24, of Laval, was arrested several days after the stabbing and was charged, on Feb. 6, with second-degree murder. The preliminary inquiry in his case is scheduled to begin on Nov. 9, 2016.

Pascal Cronier

Age: 34

Location: Outside an apartment building on Georges-V Ave. in Montreal East

Pascal Cornier was stabbed during an argument between a group of men, police say, Colton St-Pierre Louis, 26, one of the residents of the building on Georges-V Ave. near Pierre de Coubertin Ave., has been charged with second-degree murder. His preliminary inquiry is scheduled to begin in April. Two other men involved in the argument were charged with breaking into a condo one floor above their residence in that building.

Mario Bourgeois

Age: 53

Date: Feb. 11

Location: Outside a halfway house on 15th Ave. in St-Michel

Mario Bourgeois was killed in a shooting that had all the signs of a professional hit. The shooter used a firearm equipped with a silencer and apparently knew when Bourgeois would be outside the halfway house where he was required to reside while serving a 15-year sentence for sexually assaulting two women and a teenage girl. According to a Parole Board of Canada decision made in 2013, Bourgeois had inherited a large amount of money from his parents. The board had ordered Bourgeois to reside at a halfway house, in part out of concerns over how the inheritance would affect him. The homicide remains unsolved.

Paul Andrew Brown

Age: 57

Location: An apartment building on Manning St. in Verdun

Roughly eight hours before police found his body, Paul Andrew Brown had been to the Montreal courthouse to set a date for a preliminary inquiry after being charged with committing sexual offences on minors. Jessie Quannaaluk, 56, a woman who had been seeing Brown previously, is charged with second-degree murder in the case. Quannaaluk, who is from Ivujivik, an Inuit community of about 300 at the extreme western edge of Quebec, gave an interview with the Journal de Montréal just two days before Brown was killed. The interview was done at a women's shelter, and Quannaaluk said she was there to escape an abusive boyfriend.

Giulio Porcu

Age: 37

Location: Triplex on Jeanne-Mance St.

Giulio Porcu was reportedly stabbed during an argument over an inheritance. The victim's younger sister, Marina Porcu, now 37, is charged with second-degree murder in this case. She was released from detention in April following a bail hearing.

Tilus Saintilus

Age: 20

Date: Feb. 26

Location: Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension borough

Police found Tilus Saintilus on Everett St., in critical condition near a car that had been hit by bullets. He died hours later in a hospital. At the time of his death, Saintilus was on probation as part of a sentence he received for credit card fraud, and had a case pending for a firearm offence. No arrests have been made.

Ngoc Quang Nguyen

Age: 30

Location: A parking lot on Robert St. in St-Léonard

Ngoc Quang Nguyen was born in a refugee camp in Hong Kong on Feb. 24, 1985 — 30 years before he was found dead in a luxury SUV in the parking lot of a residential building in St-Léonard. At the time of his death, Nguyen, a Montreal North resident, was facing a charge a trafficking case that dated back to 2013. He was also challenging a deportation order issued because he had an extensive criminal record and had never become a Canadian citizen. No arrests have been made in this case.

Jean-Benoît Doré

Age: 51

Date: April 7

Location: His home in Montreal North

About a year before he was killed, Jean-Benoît Doré befriended a man who had arrived in Canada from Turkey. For months, however, Doré expressed concerns about the man's erratic behaviour toward his sister and, according to her, the police were called to Doré's apartment the night before he was killed. The friend, Onur Yilmaz, was charged with first-degree murder two days after Doré was killed. The next court date in the case is set for Feb. 1, 2016.

Serge Levac

Age: 54

Location: Victim’s Villeray apartment

Serge Levac was stabbed in his apartment, which was part of a subsidized housing building run by the city. Neighbours described Levac as a problem tenant for a long time, and had been hoping to have him evicted. Daisy Busque Lachance, 30, a woman with an extensive criminal record, was charged with second-degree murder in this case. According to court records, Busque Lachance had lived in Baie-Comeau, Quebec City and Manicougan before moving to Montreal shortly before Levac was killed. The case returns to court on Jan. 22.

Charlie Cecilia Garcia Larez

Age: 36

Location: Victim’s apartment in Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

Charlie Cecilia Garcia Larez left her home in Venezuela in April 2014 and came to Montreal to find better opportunities and help her family financially. In the months after she arrived, she met a man by the name of Raynald Letourneau, and he moved into her apartment. The relationship then soured, and he moved out. Two weeks before she was killed, Garcia Larez informed her family back in Venezuela that she was pregnant. In August, Letourneau, 47, was charged with first-degree murder. The preliminary inquiry in his case is scheduled to begin on Jan. 29.

Jimmy Sanchez Ramos

Age: 26

Location: Plateau-Mont-Royal

Shortly after bars on St-Laurent Blvd. emptied out after closing time, a small group of men got into an argument at the corner of Clark St. and des Pins St. The argument turned violent, and Sanchez Ramos was stabbed in the chest. The following day, Laval resident Wassim Filali, 21, was charged with second-degree murder. Sebastien Nicu Baltatu Casu, 21, of the St-Laurent borough, faces two charges of assault related to the fight. Filali's case returns to court on Jan. 13.

Nellie Angutiguluk

Age: 29

Date: May 18

Location: Victim's apartment in Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce

Police found Nellie Angutiguluk's body in her apartment on De Nancy St. on May 18. Angutiguluk's boyfriend, Kwasi Alfred Benjamin, 30, was arrested several weeks later and was charged with first-degree murder. One week before Angutiguluk was killed, Benjamin had been charged with conjugal violence, and was released on bail. The next date in Benjamin's case is scheduled for Feb. 25.

Adam Zembowicz

Age: 10 months

Location: Anjou

Police say it appears Adam was killed by his father, Rafal Zembowicz, who then committed suicide. The family had moved into their Anjou home several months before the tragedy. Neighbours said that Zembowicz was friendly and outgoing at first, but became withdrawn after he and his wife separated.

Location: St-Laurent Blvd. in the Plateau

A violent confrontation on St-Laurent Blvd. near des Pins Ave. left two men dead and another two badly injured. Keyshell Deranks Pierre (also known as Derank Pierre Keyshell), was charged, on Aug. 10, with the first-degree murder of Loures and the attempted murders of Rael Elysée and Makindy Edouard, the two men who were injured. Pierre was not charged in the death of the second homicide victim, whose name was never released by the Montreal police. Three other men have been charged with attempted murder in connection with what transpired that morning.

A 21-year-old man

Location: Near the intersection of Robert St. and 25th Ave. in Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension

The victim was shot while walking along a sidewalk that Saturday afternoon. Police say shots were fired from a car stopped at the intersection, near René Goupil Park. According to at least two published reports, the young man may have been the victim of mistaken identity. No arrests have been made.

Donald Cesar

Donald Cesar was reportedly the half-brother of Chenier (Big) Dupuy, a well-known street gang leader who was killed on Aug. 10, 2012, in the parking lot of a shopping mall in Anjou. At the time of his death, Cesar was on probation after pleading guilty in 2013 to drug trafficking and the careless storage of a firearm.

Edwidge Jacques

Age: 25

Location: Montreal North

Edwidge Jacques was fatally shot while in a car, on Lacordaire Blvd. near the corner of Crevier St. Like Donald Cesar, who was killed 10 days earlier, Jacques had ties to a street gang. At the time of his death, he was facing a drug trafficking charge and, in May, had been sentenced to perform 240 hours of community service after an assault conviction.

Marco Claudio Campellone

Age: 24

Date: Sept. 18

Location: Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles

Marco Claudio Campellone was shot in August 2013, and survived. The young man ran out of luck in September, when he was shot near his home on Maurice Duplessis Blvd. During the time between the two shootings, Campellone pleaded guilty, in June 2014, to a conspiracy to traffic drugs in a case that involved people who were tied Giuseppe De Vito, the now-deceased Mafia leader. Campellone was on probation when he was killed. No one has been arrested in connection with this homicide.

A 25-year-old man

When police arrived at the scene of the stabbing, on John F. Kennedy St. near the corner of Dollard St., the man was in critical condition. He died hours after being taken to a hospital. No arrests have been made.

Edwin Johnson

Age: 48

Location: Near Viger Square

Edwin Johnson, a Montreal man with a lengthy criminal record, was stabbed, police say, over an argument about drugs. Three days later, Paul Evans Gordon Gray, 37, was charged with first-degree murder, as well as with assaulting a 44-year-old Montreal woman who has a long list of drug trafficking convictions. One year earlier, Gordon Gray completed a seven-year sentence for a 2006 home invasion in Montreal. Tamara Chandler, 35, of Montreal, is charged with being an accomplice after the fact to Johnson's murder. Gordon Gray and Chandler have court dates set for Jan. 26.

A 27-year-old man

Location: Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough

At around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a call about shots heard inside a building, on Ste. Catherine St. E. near the corner of de Chambly St., that was known as a place were drugs were often sold. The victim died shortly after being taken to a hospital. Police said he was a known drug user.

Domenico Iacono

Age: 56

Location: Montreal North

Domenico Iacono was found dead in the trunk of his red Mercedes at the corner of Désy and Farly Sts. The day before the car was discovered, Laval police had issued a release stating that he had been missing since Oct. 25. At the time of his death, Iacono was on probation as part of a sentence he received in September 2014 after pleading guilty to two counts of fraud and one count of giving a false statement. No one has been arrested in connection with Iacono's death.

Lee Christopher Larocque

Age: 38

Date: Nov. 6

Location: Lachine

Lee Christopher Larocque was stabbed in an apartment building on Sherbrooke St. Neighbours reported aloud argument that Friday night, and when the police arrived they found Larocque in critical condition and his mother, Christine Brooks, injured. Philippe Gloutney, 42, who was reportedly in a relationship with Brooks, has been charged with first-degree murder and the attempted murder of Brooks. Gloutney's case returns to court on Jan. 26.

George Berry

Location: St-Maurice St. in Île-Bizard

George Berry was stabbed after an argument broke out at the home of the suspect, Steve Barnes. A third man, age 24, was also involved in the argument. Barnes, 32, is charged with second-degree murder and the next court date in his case is Jan. 14.

Adamie (Adam) Qumaluk

Date: Dec. 18

Location: Ste-Catherine St. W, near the corner of Fort St.

Adamie Qumaluk was stabbed at around 2:30 a.m. during an argument with another man outside a restaurant. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead shortly after. On Dec. 21, police arrested Bobby Tukkiapik and charged him with second-degree murder the next day. The indictment filed in the case indicates that Tukkiapik resided close to where Qumaluk was killed. According to court records, both men were originally from different villages in Nunavik.

François Girard

Date: Dec. 15

Location: A residential building in Rosemont

Firefighters called to the scene of a blaze in on Dézéry St., between Rachel and Sherbrooke Sts., discovered Girard's body. Three days later, following an autopsy, police confirmed the man died as a result of a homicide, but would not provide details. No arrests have been made. According to a published report, Girard worked for a school board and lived alone in the building.

Alexandre Tremblay

Age: 22

Date: Dec. 22

Location: Iberville St., near the corners of Villeray St.

Tremblay was shot near his home on Iberville St. on Dec. 21 and died the following day. Montreal police and the Sûreté du Québec said they are investigating whether four attempted murders that quickly followed this shooting are related. Tremblay had been facing charges of uttering threats and possession of a loaded firearm.

Joey Grace

Joey Grace, 20, was fatally shot near the corner of Louvain St. and 13th Ave. in St-Michel on Dec. 26. Police rushed to the scene and his death was confirmed on site. He had been shot at least once in the upper body.
