English - UK My day at work was tough from start to finish a lot of hard work. I learned to just do my job and don't worry about the other workers.Management so ok but they always sided with the poor workers. Most of my co-workers were ok but there were some that took advantage of everything they could to not do there job always leaving it for us to do. The hardest part of the job was putting up with all the politics. QUITTING TIME

Just now leaving the Newspaper Carrier business after being there for 10 years. I have to say that not having a day off caused me to have severe depression. You cannot plan anything like being with your family, going camping, etc. I started out making 8-9 cents a paper to 6 cents a paper, having 300 papers to 500 papers per day. More papers less pay!!!! Crazy is'nt it? I roughly made an average of $3-$4 per hour. You have to pay for bags, bands, gas. Overall, this is below minimum wage. Anyway, I have made good friends with people but not for long cause they never lasted long enough. Management was ok. But I felt tention between districts all the time. Like some people were better than others. I would not advise anyone to do this. It is bad for your health in the long run.......

none It doesn’t seem to matter that these images don’t conform to present reality. Today, there are millions more unionized teachers than unionized truckers. Of the six unions with more than a million members, two are headed by lesbians and one by an African American, a level of diversity in these troglodytic institutions not to be found on Wall Street or in Silicon Valley.

Editors’ Favorites 1564 Birth and death of William Shakespeare celebrated $625,000 English “It’s my understanding [The Denver Post’s] owners still make money in this town. A newspaper is supposed to be part of the civic conversation, and you can’t have a conversation if there’s no one there to engage from that side,” Flynn said. “People rely on journalists to ferret out what’s going on in a community. We’ve already lost so much… It’s obviously a race to the bottom, and that’s no good for Denver.”
When asked if the letter is a serious effort to attract a buyer for the Post or a means by which to focus attention on the negative effect of Alden's ownership, Mulligan replies, "Both. Even though the paper's now profitable, our members and employees of Digital First Media around the country are seeing staffing cuts continue, the selling-off of real estate, the stagnant wages. We're all frustrated by the hedge-fund business model we're working under, so this is a way to voice that frustration and maybe trigger some positive change."
“I’m very honored to be here tonight, and I’m glad we’re videotaping this,” said former Denver mayor, U.S. Transportation Secretary and U.S. Energy Secretary Federico Peña, an OLV member for thirteen years.
