The benefits of using baits are that they introduce relatively low amounts of pesticide into the environment and they require pest specific tamper resistant bait stations.

Baits are pesticide impregnated food that may or may not be specific to the pest. Wisconsin law requires these to be in tamper resistant bait stations. The use of tamper resistant bait stations make it more difficult for pets and children to get at the pesticide.

They are usually plastic cases that have holes large enough for the insect or rodent to enter, but not large enough for the cat or dog to get into.
