Pesticides and the Law > Pesticides Label

The Ingredient

All pesticides have to provide the active ingredient.

Example:

Active Ingredient:
      Glyphosate, isopropylamine salt . . . . . . .0.96%
Other ingredients . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 99.04%
TOTAL . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 100.00%

Having an understanding of the active ingredients can help in the selection process. The herbicide glyphosate can be found in many different products. However, pesticides are not registered solely on the active ingredient in them. They are registered and labeled according to that products specific use. A glyphosate product labeled for your sidewalk may not be labeled for your garden.

Always read and follow the label.
