Environmental Precautions > Fate of Pesticides in The Environment

Actually a pesticide can leave the target site in many different ways, when it does of course, it is no longer doing its job.

Volatility

The ability of a pesticide to turn into a gas when exposed to the air. Essentially, evaporation.
Solubility

The ability of a pesticide to dissolve and flow with water.
Removal

Eaten by an animal or removed during gardening chores or by moving the soil.
Degradation

The breakdown of the pesticide into simpler, usually nontoxic, compounds by the action of sunlight, microbes, time and other agents.
