If you have ever bought seed and it has come in bright colors (pink, green, blue) this is seed that has been pretreated with fungicides or insecticides. With what little pesticide is used is put only where it is needed.

Why pretreat seed with a pesticide? Some seed companies will pretreat seed to increase present germination. By protecting the seed against seedling diseases and insects that can eat seeds, this provides a larger germination percentage.
