Deciding What to Do > Pests
Plants become weeds when they:

Compete with desired plants for nutrients, water and space.

Interfere with the planned use of the site.

Detract from a landscape's aesthetics.

Provide food and cover of other pests.

Are allergens or are irritating to people and pets. Example, poison ivy.

Present physical hazards. Example, roots damaging a foundation.
