Description:
Abstract:
"USDA has purchased an Enterprise Premium license for this Orthoimagery/Geo product from DigitalGlobe, Inc. Any government, education, not-for-profit agency and public/individuals not engaged in using the "Product for Commercial Exploitation or Commercial Purposes" can use this licensed data. Use of this product for Commercial Purposes by a person/company/organization for a profit or fee is strictly prohibited. Please refer to the separately attached license from DigitalGlobe, Inc. for additional information. This specific imagery was not Orthorectified due to a lack of a usable DEM at the time this image was requested. This Image was processed as a "Geo"or Georeferenced product from DigitalGlobe." An orthoimage is remotely sensed image data in which displacement of features in the image caused by terrain relief and sensor orientation have been mathematically removed. Orthoimagery combines the image characteristics of a photograph with the geometric qualities of a map. The design accuracy is estimated not to exceed 10-meters.
Data received at Earth Resources Observation and Science Center (EROS) were verified as: Projection: WGS_1984_UTM_Zone_55N Resolution: 0.6000 m Type: Natural Color
and resampled to align to the U.S. National Grid (USNG). The naming convention is based on the U.S. National Grid (USNG), taking the coordinates of the SW corner of the orthoimage. The metadata were imported and updated for display through The National Map at <http://nationalmap.gov/viewer.html> Chip-level metadata are provided in HTML and XML format. Data were compressed utilizing IAS software. The compression was JPEG2000 Lossy Compressed. The file format created was .jp2.
Purpose:
"DG Orthoimage serve a variety of purposes, from interim maps to field references for geographic information system and as a tool for revision of digital line graphs and topographic maps." A digital orthoimage is a geometrically accurate photographic record of landscape conditions at the time of the corresponding aerial photography. As such, High Resolution Orthoimagery is useful for a variety of applications, such as environmental monitoring, facility engineering/maintenance, city/county planning, property line review, etc. The digital orthoimage can be used alone or as a raster basemap for corresponding vector line mapping.
Supplemental_Information:
"USDA-NRCS-NGMC processed the DigitalGlobe delivered WorldView-2 (WV-2) Multi-Spectral/Pan data bundle to produce a 4-Band, 16 Bit Pan-Sharpen Mosaic using ERDAS 2011. Bands 4,3,2 were subset from the 8 band mosaic to create a Natural Color mosaic." The data obtained through The National Map is considered to be the "best available" data from USGS. Information in quotation marks, initial processing steps, accuracy reports, and source information is taken directly from the original metadata.

Attribute_Accuracy:
Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
"Radiometry is verified by visual inspection. Slight systematic radiometric differences may be detected between adjacent DG ortho image files due primarily to differences in source imagery capture dates, and off-nadir or sun angles of the QuickBird Imagery."
Logical_Consistency_Report:
"All DG satellite image file sizes are validated by visual inspection."
Completeness_Report:
"All DG imagery is visually inspected for completeness to ensure that no gaps or image misplacements exist in the image area or in overedge coverage. DG satellite images may be derived by mosaicking multiple images, in order to insure complete coverage. All DG satellite images are cloud free within the image area. Some clouds may be encountered within the DG satellite images if acceptable to the customer at time of order placement."
Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
"The DG ortho image horizontal positional accuracy and the assurance of that accuracy depend, in part, on the accuracy of the data inputs to the rectification process. These inputs consist of the digital elevation model (DEM), orthoimagery-extracted and/or GPS surveyed ground control, and QuickBird sensor calibrations and robust sensor models. This value is an estimate of the horizontal accuracy of the tile expressed in meters."

"The rectification process requires, as input, a digital elevation model gridded to Geographic Lat/Lon projection and WGS84 datum, a set of existing USGS orthoimagery or a set of GPS surveyed ground control points, and a set of one or more QuickBird images covering the area to be processed into DG satellite imagery. If surveyed control is not used, ground control points are acquired from existing imagery. The positions of the ground control points are measured on the QuickBird digital imagery."

USDA-NRCS-NGMC processed the DigitalGlobe delivered WorldView-2 Multi-Spectral/Pan data bundle to produce an 8 Band (Coastal Blue, Blue, Green, Yellow, Red, Red Edge, Near Infrared 1, Near Infrared 2) , 16 Bit Pan-Sharpen Mosaic using ERDAS 2011. The source imagery was obtained August 8, 2010. As appropriate, tone or range adjustment were made to minimize tone differences between individual tiles and along mosaic seam lines. Bands 4,3,2 were subset from the 4-band mosaic to create a Natural Color mosaic. The 16-bit mosaic was rescaled to 8-bit and and lut stretch was applied. LizardTech GeoExpress 7.0 compression software was used to create the MrSID file.

Overview_Description:
Entity_and_Attribute_Overview:
Natural color orthoimagery is organized in three color bands or channels which represent the red, green, and blue portions of the spectrum. Each image pixel is assigned a triplet of numeric values, one for each color band. Numeric values range from 0 to 255. Areas where data is incomplete due to lack of full image coverage are represented with the numeric value of 0.
