Abstract:
This GIS dataset represents the efforts to map mule deer habitat in North America. Habitat delineations were drawn on 1:250 K USGS quadrangles by regional experts and tablet digitized. Six classes of habitat were delineated and digitized as separate GIS datasets. This dataset represents SUMMER RANGE (CLASS B). SUMMER RANGE is defined as : That part of the overall range where 90% of the individuals are located between spring green-up and the first heavy snowfall. Summer range is not necessarily exclusive of winter range; in some areas winter range and summer range may overlap.
Purpose:
This dataset may be used by natural resource managers for planning and management accross large, state and regional landscapes.
