GIS SOFTWARE
REQUIREMENTS
ESRI ArcView™ 3.X
The GIS data on this CD-ROM is in ESRI coverage format and can be viewed using ArcView™ 3.X software. To open the ArcView project file you will first nee to set the environment variable. To set the environment variable do the following:
1) Copy the muledeer folder to a location on your hard drive
2) Left click on Start and open CONTROL PANAL
3) Double left click on SYSTEM
4) Click on ADVANCED tab
5) Left click on ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES button
7) Under USER VARIABLES FOR <LOGIN NAME> click on NEW button
8) For VARIABLE NAME type MULEDEER
9) For VARIABLE VALUE type the path to location (on your hard drive) where the muledeer folder has been copied.
10) Click OK button for New User Variable dialog
11) Click OK button for Environment Variables dialog
12) Click OK button for System Properties dialog
Once you have copied the muledeer folder to your hard drive and properly set the environment variable, you will be able to double click on the muledeer2004.apr file and view the contents with ArcView 3.3. Note that when you copy these data to your hard drive from the CD-ROM they will be write protected. If you wish to save data, or the .apr file, you will have to change the permissions of these folders using your operating system.
ESRI ArcGIS™ 8.3
The GIS data on this CD-ROM may also be viewed using ArcGIS™ software. A map document file called muledeer2000.mxd is available on the CD-ROM at \muldeer\ArcGIS\. This document contains relative paths and may be opened while the data reside on the CD-ROM or from another location on your computer (i.e. if you copied the data to your hard drive).
ESRI ArcReader™
The GIS data on the CD-ROM may also be view using
ArcReader™. ArcReader is a free software
that allows you
to view ESRI GIS datasets. To install
ArcReader on your computer, double click on the ArcReaderWebSetup.exe
file located under the \muledeer\ArcGIS\
folder on the CD-ROM, then
follow the installation instructions.
When ArcReader is installed on your computer you will be able to
open
the published map document by double clicking on the muldeeer2004.pmf
file also located under the \muledeer\ArcGIS\
folder.
