Vegans do not eat or buy any goods that contain any animal products. A vegan lifestyle involves finding alternatives to many of the everyday things that many people skip over including clothes and shoes. Many shoes are made from leather which is not acceptable to vegans, they're also glued together. Glue is made using animal bones. In many ways the vegan lifestyle is good for environmental surroundings and a sustainable way of living. The rearing of animals carries a carbon footprint which contributes to global warming so not wanting to eat meat or using leather cuts cuts down on the individuals carbon footprint. The leather used to make shoes can also be usually tanned using very toxic chemicals which cause pollution and health hazards to those doing work in the tanneries. Then there could be the glue that is employed to make many shoes, again its manufacture causes pollution and damage to human health. So in some ways vegan shoes are a sustainable and environmentally friendly option. But there's things, there can be another side to the story. The process used to make artificial materials is usually energy intensive and uses non renewable resources (oil). Synthetic shoes are also non biodegradable so once their useful our life is over they are generally disposed of and contribute towards the growing problem of landfill. So what are alternatives? It is achievable to find vegan shoes which are friendly to the environment sustainable and satisfy the needs of an vegan when it comes to not containing animal products. Completely natural and sustainable materials are the best option while they will biodegrade and are also renewable. Recently materials like coconut husk, natural latex, hemp and cork have been accustomed to make shoes which look nice, are strong , durable and invite the feet to breathe. Not only are these natural alternatives better for environmental surroundings but they are also usually more comfortable and kinder in your feet. Hemp could be dyed a selection of bright colours which look stylish and on trend. Cork is the bark or perhaps a tree native to Portugal and may be harvested without injury to the tree. It makes is great for any quirky and brilliant looking shoe. Shoes might be stitched together as opposed to using glue which not merely looks great but brings about strong and hardwearing.
