Getting the right fit with your running sneakers - Philadelphia running fitness If you are planning to run any big races this spring so you think you might need new athletic shoes, it is now time to take care of it. You need a minimum of a month to destroy in the new shoes and make certain that they fit well. As a serial shopper, I have tried every strategy to buy jogging shoes. I was originally fit for shoes when I trained for my first marathon. After that I continued to get my shoes online. I always tied to the same logo and model and don't had any difficulty. This past fall my trusty running shoes started to give me trouble. I was having horrible foot pain and may barely figure to run farther when compared to a mile. I attended the Bryn Mawr Running Company and I was fit for brand new sneakers. Turns out I had been wearing a half size too big; I was wearing an 8.5 and transpired to an 8, along with the wrong form of shoe for my feet and stride. I switched from my lovely Mizunos with a great pair of Asics. I spent the 2009 fall injured and took time off from running. When I got to running, I need new shoes again. I was tempted to buy another pair online but I went returning to the running store and was fit again. I got an excellent pair of jogging shoes, but switched brands again. These new shoes, Nikes, required me to visit down another half size. After this experience I see the need for being fit for my shoes. Every brand name and model runs differently and with athletic shoes costing $80-$120 moobs, it's worth it to get it right. As an additional benefit, once you buy your shoes from your running store, you are able to usually try them out on a treadmill after which exchange them in case you are unhappy with the fit. This lets you get the best set of two shoes to your feet. To give you a hand, here is a list of some local running & sports equipment stores where you'll be able to get fit for brand new shoes: Bryn Mawr Running Company (Bryn Mawr, Media & Manayunk)Philadelphia Runner (Center City & University City)The Running Place (Newtown Square)City Sports (Ardmore & Center City) Wishing you all happy feet and strong strides! |
