Different Approaches To The Paleo Diet Making a diet change and selecting to eat paleo is a big step in the proper direction' emphasis on huge step. The switch the signal from the Paleo Diet can be challenging for many, and is best approached with a method that is tailored for you. By personalizing your procedure for this diet change, you will end up less likely to cheat, and therefore more motivated to keep on your route to complete health. There are two different approaches that are respectively endorsed through the faces of The Paleo Diet, Robb Wolf and Loren Cordain. The first technique is pretty much going cold turkey, whilst the second involves a progression of steps that are each more strict. The 30-Day Paleo Challenge can be a concept coined by Robb Wolf, author of The Paleo Solution. Robb Wolf asks individuals to complete remove grains, dairy, legumes, and processed sugars from other diets for 30 days using a 'what is it necessary to lose'? approach. This approach is great for highly self-motivated people using a large amount of perseverence. This strict approach to switching to the Paleo Diet can be extremely successful in case you are an all or nothing kind of person. However, having tried to complete a 30-Day Paleo Challenge myself, I have found out quality that it does not work for everyone. As a result, I looked for an alternate method of the diet that wouldn't make me feel like this type of failure when I had half a treat to celebrate something exciting. What I discovered was Loren Cordain's Three Levels of The Paleo Diet. He explains this approach in his book, The Paleo Diet. This more relaxed method seemed a lot more down my alley, so I educate yourself. Level One requires 85% compliance using the Paleo Diet, permitting 15% freedom. This 15% depends upon around 3 free meals each week, assuming you eat 3 meals a day, or 21 meals weekly. The levels climb in rigidity, with Level Two allowing 10% freedom (2 free meals weekly), and Level Three allowing 5% freedom (1 free meal a week). There isn't any set progression speed with all the levels, so it is all totally up to you. You can decide to move forward to a stricter level in case you are motivated to take action and feel you are able to comply without feeling deprived. But in case you choose not to move up from Level Three, you will still be complying with The Paleo Diet enough to obtain most of its health benefits. The only tricky part is that this: everything you do with your free meals is important and if you go hog-wild you'll set yourself back with progress and feel awful. When people learn they can not have their morning bagel, or cereal, or cup of coffee, or perhaps a piece of pie or a treat after dinner, they freak. By having free meals built into your diet prevents this panic. The purpose of the free meals is simply to allow you to have your favorite foods occasionally so you don't say 'no chocolate cake? No way.' The hope is once you realize how good you are feeling and look after enjoying Paleo for a while, that you will not use a desire to cheat anymore. So, avoid your free meal you can eat a whole pizza to yourself and finish it off which has a batch of chocolate chip cookies. Not only will you're feeling really sick and tired as a result, but you will end up physically hurting your system! Switching to The Paleo Diet doesn't need to be a traumatizing event. In fact, it could be a relaxed progression through which you are able to still have your selected foods sometimes. Some people would rather remove each of the offending foods (grains, dairy, legumes, and processed sugars) using their diet immediately, for good. If this sounds like you, great! Go for Robb Wolf's 30-Day Paleo Challenge. If you know that you'll have trouble removing simply because from your daily diet completely, go ahead and take change in steps, and start at Loren Cordain's Level Three. Choosing the appropriate method of approach are important for your success with this diet. As one last note, be sure to track your progress by documenting your starting and ending points with photos, measurements and blood work! You are going to need to show people what amazing results you experienced consequently of this excellent diet change. |
