North Lake College vision for sustainability is to serve as a leader in a network of individuals and organizations for Economic, Environmental and Societal Sustainability. Working with community partners, we continually enhance and develop our curriculum, policies and workforce initiatives to meet the challenges of our future together. North Lake College contributes to DCCCD Sustainability Best Practices and measures sustainability in six key performance areas:
- Awareness and Marketing,
- Carbon Footprint,
- Community Partnerships,
- Education,
- Student and Employee Participation, and
- Vendor Services.
In 2007, North Lake committed to the American College and University President's Climate Commitment (ACUPCC), now called the Second Nature Climate Commitment (SNCC). In 2015, Second Nature re-formatted the ACUPCC program and North Lake President, Dr. Christa Slejko, expanded the commitment to include Community Resilience.
