Environmental Precautions > Fate of Pesticides in The Environment

This was a trick question. On a per acre basis, pesticide use around the home is on a normal rate range with modern agriculture. So don't dismiss your spills or excessive applications as small, individual incidence; these and your neighbors possible individual incidences add up fast.

Over all, modern agriculture applies to more acres than home and garden, but the rates are similar.

In 2007, the EPA reported that home and garden made up 21% of the nation's pesticide sales; agriculture made up 63%.
