Product Reviews :: Real US made basketball shoes? You've reached be kidding! My faithful couple of basketball shoes was wearing somewhat thin so I reluctantly decided arrived to replace them. Being concerned about what outsourcing did to the US economy I resolved that I would replace my old Reeboks (that had been made in Korea) with a set of two real and 100% genuine "Made in USA" basketball shoes. During the process I wanted to be out with the clutches with the scammers and spammers who have been selling fake replica shoes. First I went on the web and looked at the dazzling selection of beautiful new court shoes available, but there was clearly no indication of where these could have been made so off I attended Google. There I soon found that all of big brand shoes for example Big N? ( you know who I mean the king of shoes which made more than a billion dollars profit recently) were made overseas, that this labor practices in their overseas plants were less than desirable, and that this foreign operations of your number of U.S. shoe companies made a lot being desired. From there I decided to try the Mall and decided to look at the labels of all brand name basketball shoes - "Made in VietNam", "Made in Korea", Made in China", "Made in Thailand", "Made in "Indonesia" and "Made in Brazil". Not just one pair "Made in USA". This didn't apparently help much so I turned towards the hovering clerk and asked if she had any Made in USA shoes. That question seemed to bewilder her, so I asked clerks in other stores and those who have been not stunned from this question informed me that there is no such thing just as one American made basketball shoe, while using possible exception of Chuck Taylors. I was soon to learn that even output of these stalwarts was moved overseas when Nike bought out Converse in 2003. I went back home perplexed along with a bit disappointed but resolved to visit straight on the horse?s mouth, so I started calling the organization headquarters of some in the major US shoe manufacturers to have the real story. Nike informed me that they were still manufacturing in Indonesia "and other countries in this region", which "it had not been economically possible to manufacture in the United States". This is a similar company that designed a profit that has reached over $450 million inside third quarter of 2007 alone? The nice lady at L.A. Gear seemed a bit surprised when I asked if their shoes were manufactured in USA but informed me that their shoes were stated in Brazil and many countries in Asia. Being nothing or else stubborn, I kept the phone warm and called Reebok but all I was told was that "All of our shoes are made somewhere outside from the United States". When I told this lady that I was focused on shoes being manufactured in deplorable conditions overseas she sent me a good brochure which assured me that their shoes were manufactured under circumstances "appropriate in light of national practices and conditions". Several calls later I found the countries were China, Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, as well as the Philippines. Sigh! K-Swiss shoes would only state that they manufactured "offshore" however when I called New Balance I was told that 70% of their shoes are manufactured in the United States, with the remaining 30% manufactured in Europe and Asia. Sadly none of the shoes did actually fit my tastes. Somewhat discouraged I sat down and seriously considered it for a lttle bit. How much will it matter I wondered? How easily do principles give way towards the need for better ankle support, brand loyalty, fashion or better pricing? What's all of this flap about foreign made replica shoes? Are every one of the shoes sold online fakes since they are all made overseas? How can I tell if an online shoe site is selling fake replicas or the genuine the real guy? Does it matter provided that the shoes are perfect? What exactly is often a fake and what is real or genuine? So I chose to join the bunch and went back online and found a nice set of basketball shoes from the company called kicksbay.com. They probably were not manufactured in USA but the price was right, these comfortable shoes were delivered promptly, they can fit well and seem being just as good as my old Reeboks in the game. Their customer care was helpful and I will probably buy from them the next time, even if I wish I could find a pair of Made in USA basketball shoes. And now I am developing a hard rethink about each of the fuss the big manufactures are earning over "fake or replica" shoes. Is a pair of shoes that came out of the same factory who makes Nikes or Addidas? shoes just as good as the "genuine genuine thing" or include the high prices we're paying just to support the high dollar profits many of these companies are generating? It is food for thought as well as perhaps more articles.
