Release 7.3.8
8/19/10
Key Bug Fixes
Various bug fixes are included in this release. The following is a list of key fixes by application area.
Please contact customer support for the status of any specific Astra Schedule case number.
Area: Approvals and Notifications
Event Request: Corrected an error that occurred when a requested resource was approved that included a setup or
teardown service.
Area: Calendar
Calendar: Daily Room Grid updated to properly display effective dated room versions and activities.
Calendar: Corrected an Oracle‑specific issue that was causing an error in certain environments when clicking on the
Weekly Grid View in the Calendar.
Area: Control Panel
Control Panel: Corrected an error encountered when using the following Control Panel options: "Modify existing
instance" and "Copy existing Astra Schedule version VII database (no upgrade)"
Area: Courses
SIS Interface: Corrected a problem in the section import that was preventing meeting instances from being generated
on multi‑meeting sections when the meeting pattern changed.
Area: Event Meeting Types
Event and Event Meeting Types cannot be deleted if they are associated with an event.
Area: Event Request
Event Notifications: Shortened the name of one of the event notification reports to help avoid a path length problem
when sending notifications.
Area: Events
Event Resource Assignment: Deleting an assigned resource now completely removes resource reference from the
meeting.
Event Edit: Corrected an issue with event editing that was locking an event record as "already being modified" if a
user logged out while in edit mode.
Event Meeting Edit: Event meeting day of week is now properly updated when the date is edited.
Area: N/A
Double Booking Permission: Updated section room assignment grid to make it more obvious if a user intentionally
double books a section into a room.
Area: Optimizer
Room Usage Control: Corrected a problem that was preventing room usage information from being created when the
"copy to other rooms" feature was used during configuration. The result was that controlled rooms were being
scheduled by the optimizer.
Area: Portal
Portal Web Part: Updated the URL information for the View Sections web part to resolve an error when using this
option.
Area: Rooms
Room Partitioning: Corrected an indexing issue that was causing an error in the case where a room was partitioned,
then un‑partitioned, and re‑partitioned.
Area: Sections
Section Scheduling: Corrected a problem that was allowing double booking if section meeting patterns were edited or
added on‑the‑fly within Astra Schedule.
Area: Security
Role Permissions: Corrected an issue when checking a user's role permissions that was not properly filtering out
previously granted, but then deleted, permissions. Specifically, a user that once had the permission to double book,
then had the permission removed from their role, was still able to double book.
Area: SIS/ATE
Realtime Import: Updated the SIS job form to prevent editing the schedule for a real time (differencer) job while it is
running. Also added a button to the schedule grid for the job to allow a job to be stopped if it is running.
When the schedule for a differencer job is saved, if the current time is within the window where the differencer job is
scheduled to run, the job is started automatically. Example: if the job is scheduled to run from 8am‑5pm, if the
schedule is saved at 9am on a day that it runs, it will be started. Otherwise it will be scheduled for the next interval.
SIS Import: Batch import campus parameter updated to use campus SISKey (ID) instead of name to ensure the correct
campus match.
Event Import: Updated the Excel event import process to properly import room assignments for imported events.
Banner Interface: Fixed a problem preventing batch export from Astra Schedule to Banner when invalid section keys
were encountered. System will now log error and skip record.
Known Limitations
Area: Calendar
Browser Support: The Calendar functions are not currently compatible with Safari. We are investigating options for
an update to the Calendar control that will support Safari in a coming release.
Area: Holidays and Announcements
Holiday Section Conflicts: Section meeting instances are cancelled and flagged as exceptions upon section creation.
However, at this time, holiday configuration actions that should impact existing section records will not perform this
work. Holidays that block section meetings must be created before sections are created.
Area: People
People records cannot currently be searched via email address. This is expected to be resolved in the 7.4.0 release.
Area: Report Subscriptions
Report Subscription: Reports to be included in a report subscription may not include sub‑reports in their design.
Area: Security
"Guest" user account must be mapped to the "guest" role.
Area: SIS/ATE
After importing events via the Excel import utility, customer data must be re‑exported to ObjAcct before users can
effectively access Events and Customer related functionality.
