Release 7.3.7
7/19/10
Key Bug Fixes
Various bug fixes are included in this release. The following is a list of key fixes by application area.
Please contact customer support for the status of any specific Astra Schedule case number.
Area: Calendar
Calendar Activities: Corrected an activity filtering error that was picking up resource usage as separate from event
activities and therefore duplicating the activities displayed on the calendar if an event used a resource.
Area: Conversion
The conversion tool was updated to resolve the problem of room configuration names changing in v7 and then
re‑running a conversion from v6 to v7. The conversion tool will now choose the default room configuration if the
specified configuration cannot be found.
Area: Events
Event Scheduling/Requesting: Provided field length validation for the event description field to prevent errors caused
when too many characters were used.
Area: N/A
Room Effective Dates and Usage Controls: Corrected a problem in the room usage control logic that was causing
deleted controls to still be applied.
Default usage controls are now linked to the effective dated room version and exception controls are linked to the
parent/original room. Exception controls are displayed (and editable) from any version of the room. Modifying room
effective dates or adding/removing an effective version will update the default usage control and usage data for all
versions of the room that are affected by the edit.
Area: Optimizer
Optimizer: Updated back‑to‑back instructor section assignment logic to properly consider the room needs of all
sections involved before assigning. It was previously possible for the first section in the group to be assigned to a room
that did not meet the needs of the second section.
Optimizer: Corrected the total section count logic so that the summary section data is correct when the back‑to‑back
instructor section pre‑processing option is selected.
Optimizer: Corrected an issue where the optimizer was not checking for conflicts properly on cross‑listed meetings
that were included in the optimizer run. This was creating the possibility of double‑bookings for cross‑listed sections.
Area: Report Subscriptions
Report Subscriptions: Corrected a problem in the name drop‑down list control in report subscriptions that was causing
the list to be empty.
Area: Sections
Optimizer Publish: Added a notification message to the Publish process to inform users that a batch export must be
performed after publishing room assignments to production if they are to be exported to the SIS. Real‑time export
does not pick up published room assignments as a change.
Section Meeting Instance: Corrected an error on the section meeting instance edit form that was preventing
re‑assignment or edit of a single meeting date.
Area: SIS/ATE
Banner SIS: The real‑time import configuration file was updated to eliminate an error in the meeting instructors query
that was causing instructor assignment updates to fail.
Banner Interface: Cross‑list information is now updated in Astra Schedule if the cross‑list group is changed or removed
in Banner.
SIS Interface and Optimization: Imported sections with incomplete meeting patterns are now flagged appropriately in
the database and ignored during room optimization. This corrects an optimization error caused when the incomplete
data was encountered.
Area: System
Browser Support: IE8 added as a supported browser. Initial testing has revealed no browser‑specific issues.
Known Limitations
Area: Calendar
Browser Support: The Calendar functions are not currently compatible with Safari. We are investigating options for
an update to the Calendar control that will support Safari in a coming release.
Area: Holidays and Announcements
Holiday Section Conflicts: Section meeting instances are cancelled and flagged as exceptions upon section creation.
However, at this time, holiday configuration actions that should impact existing section records will not perform this
work. Holidays that block section meetings must be created before sections are created.
Area: People
People records cannot currently be searched via email address. This is expected to be resolved in the 7.4.0 release.
Area: Report Subscriptions
Report Subscription: Reports to be included in a report subscription may not include sub‑reports in their design.
Area: Security
"Guest" user account must be mapped to the "guest" role.
Area: SIS/ATE
After importing events via the Excel import utility, customer data must be re‑exported to ObjAcct before users can
effectively access Events and Customer related functionality.
