(Available starting with release 8.4.0)
The Student Plan is a view of an individual student's progress toward completion of their program of study, based on their assigned Pathway. The plan includes basic student profile data, a summary of credit hour and term progress, and a detailed list of completed courses along with planned courses through completion of their Pathway.
The plan data is updated by the Student Progress Analysis and Planner Analysis processes. Each time these are performed, students' academic history is applied to their Pathway courses to meet requirements or be counted as unproductive. The planning process then preselects remaining courses per term, in Pathway sequence order to model their path to completion.
The Student Plan is accessed by clicking on a student's name wherever individual students may be found, including the Smart Schedule Sandbox, Pathways, and the student list page. Student Progress Analysis must be performed to create the plan for active students in the analysis.
To view a student's plan, identify a student you would like to review using the Smart Schedule Sandbox course demand detail, the Pathway student list, or the student list page. Click on the student's last name link to open their plan.
The student Profile section includes basic student data, in addition to their associated availability and load templates. Note that the load template's "ideal" credit load is used when determining how many courses to plan for future terms and how many terms are remaining.
The Plan Summary displays course credit and term progress summary as well as a calculated overall progress status.
Plan Summary Descriptions:
•Required Credits - the total credits required by their Pathway
•Completed Credits - credits completed by the student
•Applied Credits - credit for courses that were applied toward completing requirements in their Pathway
•In Progress Credits - credits currently shown as "in progress" in the current plan
•Remaining Credits - the difference between what has been applied and what is required to complete the Pathway
•Terms Remaining - number of terms remaining to complete the remaining credits, based on the ideal load (including the analysis term and future terms; excludes any completed and in progress terms)
•Progress Status - either "On Schedule" or "Off Schedule", based on the following formula:
Required Credits / Ideal Load = Required Terms
Completed Credits / Ideal Load =Terms Completed
If (Terms Completed + Remaining Terms) <= Required Terms then "On Schedule", otherwise "Off Schedule"
The plan course list displays all completed, in progress, planned, and future courses, through the completion of the student's program of study, based on the sequence defined in their Pathway.
By default the course list is grouped by term, sorted in chronological order based on the term start date. Historical terms are followed by the Analysis Term and then future planned terms in order.
You may remove the term grouping and then sort by sequence to view the list of courses in Pathway order. Completed courses that are "unproductive" (not applied to their Pathway) have no sequence number and are sorted to the top of the list when sorted ascending.
To remove the group level, click the down arrow next to Term and remove the check mark for Show in Groups.
Click the Sequence column header until it is sorted in ascending order.
You can return to the default view by clicking the "Use Default Sort" option and then resetting the grouping for Term.
Course List Column Descriptions:
•Term - One of: the term in which a course was completed or in progress, or the "Analysis Term" (term 1), or a future planned term (2, 3, 4, etc)
•Sequence - The Pathway course sequence number represented by the completed or planned course. Sequence will be blank for unproductive courses.
•Course - The subject/course combination for completed and planned courses. Course will be blank if only a course group is currently in the plan (course not yet chosen by Planner Analysis).
•Group - The name of the course group (representing course choices) defined in the Pathway, if applicable.
•Title - The title of the course. Title will be blank for unsatisfied course groups.
•Credits - The number of credits of the completed course, or the number of credits from the requirement in the Pathway.
•Type - One of the following options:
•Required = A single course on the Pathway
•Elective = A course group that has 100 or more options
•Option = A course group that has less than 100 options
•Milestone = A course flagged as a "Milestone" on the Pathway for reporting purposes
•Gateway = A course flagged as a "Gateway" on the Pathway for reporting purposes
•Unproductive = A course that does not satisfy a requirement on the Pathway
•Status - One of the following options:
•Completed (with grade)
•Transfer (with grade)
•In Progress = Registered in the Analysis Term
•Student Planned = Imported as planned by the student from a planner system
•System Planned – Required = A required course on the Pathway planned by Student Progress Analysis for the Analysis Term
•System Planned – Option = A course choice on the Pathway planned by Student Progress Analysis for the Analysis Term
•Future = All future courses required to complete the Pathway planned by Student Progress Analysis
•OnTime - The timing of the completion of courses as compared to the sequence within the Pathway. Options are "On Time", "Early", or "Late". This is determined by comparing the term in which the course was taken to the term number in which the course is recommended based on sequencing. OnTime status will be blank for unproductive courses.
