Pre-Conference Workshops

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2015
This is the first time CAB has offered pre-conference workshops, and we hope you will join us for the inaugural event.
These workshops are designed to offer a variety of academic intensive sessions providing extended opportunities for collaborative/hands-on experiences on a topic of interest to conference attendees or an opportunity for interaction around an emerging issue related to interprofessionalism. Workshops are a half-day in length, either in the morning or afternoon, or you may decide to stay all day for two different sessions.

8:30 AM to 12:00 PM (registration will begin at 7:30 AM)
1:30 PM to 5:00 PM (registration will begin at 12:30 PM)Where: Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center OR Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM)
Fee: $99/workshop
Please note: Registration for these workshops is not included in the full conference registration fee. Full conference registration is required for all pre-conference attendees.

CALL FOR PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS

The Program Committee for CAB V is pleased to invite proposals for pre-conference workshops to be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2015. Tuesday evening marks the opening reception for the conference.
Pre-conference workshops are designed to offer a variety of academic intensive sessions providing extended opportunities for collaborative/hands-on experiences on a topic of interest to conference attendees or an opportunity for interaction around an emerging issue related to interprofessionalism. These workshops are open to all full-conference participants for a fee. Workshops are a half-day in length, either in the morning or afternoon. Virginia Tech will collect fees during the conference registration process and will also provide logistical support for all workshops. Multiple submissions from the same author(s) will be reviewed, however, acceptances may be limited in order to achieve content diversity and balanced representation from different geographic regions.Themes:
- New approaches to collaborative learning and practice
- Learner, patient/ client, caregiver and community voices
- Interprofessional collaboration across the continuum of care
- Integrating theory, frameworks, models and evidence into IPE and IPCP
- The impact of organizational context
- Unintended outcomes and unconventional partnerships
When: Tuesday, September 29, 2015
Where: The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine/Research Institute*, or Jefferson College of Health Sciences*.
*Locations have facilities and equipment (i.e. simulation center)
GUIDELINES
Schedule for pre-conference workshops - Tuesday, September 29, 2015
Morning workshops: 8:30am to 12:00pm Afternoon workshops: 1:00pm to 4:30p
Workshop registration fees:
Participants will be charged a registration fee to cover facility rental and the cost of organizational support provided by Virginia Tech.
Please note: Registration for these workshops is not included in full conference registration fee. Full conference registration is required for all pre-conference attendees.
Pre-conference registration fee includes:
- Promotion of your workshop on the CAB V conference website
- Refreshment service for break(s)
- Basic audio-visual equipment - LCD projector and screen
If your workshop has additional expenses for participant materials and supplies, the workshop can charge an additional amount to cover these expenses. Speakers/organizers will not receive any honoraria or reimbursement for travel/lodging expenses.
SUBMISSION INFORMATION
The deadline for submissions is October 24, 2014 (11:59 PM EST).

- Notification of acceptance: December 2014 (via email)
- Deadline for payment of CAB V full conference registration fees** for all presenters: May 15, 2015 (11:59pm EST).***
Please note: the call for abstracts (full conference) will be issued September 2014
** All presenters of pre-conference workshops must be registered for the full CAB V Conference.
*** If fees are not paid by this date, the workshop will be automatically withdrawn from the program.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Proposals will be peer-reviewed and rated using the following criteria:
- Relevance to conference themes
- Potential to bring in participants to the conference from different audiences
- Overall quality of contribution
- Provides a hands-on, collaborative, and/or active learning environment for attendees
