Release 7.3.3
12/28/09
Key Bug Fixes:
Various bug fixes are included in this release. The following is a list of key fixes by application area.
Please contact customer support for the status of any specific Astra Schedule case number.
Area: Approvals and Notifications
Resource Schedule Report: The resource quantity included in the report view now includes the quantity
scheduled/requested as opposed to the quantity available.
Area: Calendar
Calendar View: The "default" filter is now being used appropriately when multiple filters exist.
Area: Conversion
Conversion utility now correctly converts prior room usage control settings.
Area: Event Request
Event Requests: Fixed an issue related to creating event requests with a large number of meetings in an Oracle environment.
When a large number of meetings were being added to an Oracle database the text ‘note’ which contained all of the request
information became too large to automatically convert to the form required by Oracle. A solution was provided to properly
handle this large data for Oracle.
Pending Request List: Corrected a concurrent editing issue that was causing an error if multiple users simultaneously edited
an item requiring action on the pending request list page. The second user should now receive an appropriate message.
Area: Events
Event Conflict Checking: Corrected a potential issue that could occur during concurrent scheduling of the same room. If two
processes simultaneously attempted to save events with the same room at the same time, it was possible under the right
timing circumstances to double book the space.
The process that saves event data and associated room usage information is now protected by a lock to prevent other events
from attempting to save the same room assignment until the first save is complete.
Event Scheduling: Setup and Tear Down times can now be "ignored" during scheduling and will not be considered conflicts.
Event Scheduling/Requesting: Provided field length validation for the event description field to prevent errors caused when
too many characters were used.
Event Meeting List Keyword Search: Corrected a problem that was causing an error if the keyword search was used on the
event meeting list page.
Adding a new Contact: Corrected a problem during event creation that was causing new contacts added to customers
on‑the‑fly to not be displayed on the drop‑down list for selection until the event creation process was restarted. The contact
list is now forced to reload from when the event customer is changed.
Area: LDAP
LDAP Integration: An issue was corrected that was causing duplicate users when added through LDAP integration. An
change was implemented to check for an existing person record with the same email address as the account in the LDAP
directory before creating a new one. If an existing person is found, the "user" responsibility is added to the existing record
instead of creating a new record.
Area: Manage Requests
Manage Request List: Corrected a display issue that was preventing additional pages of requests from being viewed.
Area: Optimizer
Optimizer: Corrected an issue with the "Maintain Room Assignments" option that was causing production room assignments
to be used for previously unscheduled sections when another optimizer run was used as the source data. This prevented
iterative optimization runs from working properly if there were any existing production room assignments.
Area: People
Section Import ‑ Instructor Records: Additional email checking was incorporated across other types of contact records to
help prevent duplication.
Area: Scheduling Preferences
Preferences and Optimization: Corrected an issue that was causing sections to be ignored during optimization that had
duplicate scheduling preferences acquired from different sources (i.e. Meeting Type and Course).
Area: Sections
Section Room Usage: Corrected a problem with the room usage information that was retaining usage for sections that had
been deleted. This problem could possibly have caused false booking information for sections that had been deleted from
the system.
Area: Security
Failed login update: The user login procedure was updated to make sure to continue to respond with a message regarding
the failure every time incorrect credentials are entered. Due to the mechanism formerly in place to display the guest portal
page, multiple failed login attempts were not displaying the message.
Area: SIS/ATE
Holiday Section Conflicts: SIS imports have been updated to cancel section meeting instances that conflict with holidays and
flag them as Exceptions. This will prevent the system from attempting to schedule them and therefore avoid holiday
conflicts.
SIS jobs: Corrected an issue with the task scheduling service that was causing many jobs to be queued when/if the SIS
system is down.
SIS Interface: The Datatel and JenzabarCX interfaces now support real‑time updates from the SIS to Astra Schedule using the
file differencer.
JenzabarCX Interface: Import routine was updated to handle 3 digit time values.
Area: User Interface
Event Request Form Customization: Corrected a problem with custom, display‑only text fields that was causing only the
label to be displayed.
Known Limitations:
Area: Calendar
Browser Support: The Calendar functions are not currently compatible with Safari. We are investigating options for an
update to the Calendar control that will support Safari in a coming release.
The Grid calendar view will not show both activities if they are double booked. The system will currently select the first one
encountered to be displayed, and the other will be obscured.
Area: Holidays and Announcements
Holiday Section Conflicts: Section meeting instances are cancelled and flagged as exceptions upon section creation.
However, at this time, holiday configuration actions that should impact existing section records will not perform this work.
Holidays that block section meetings must be created before sections are created.
Area: People
People records cannot currently be searched via email address. This is expected to be resolved in the 7.4.0 release.
Area: Report Subscriptions
Report Subscription: Reports to be included in a report subscription may not include sub‑reports in their design.
Area: SIS/ATE
After importing events via the Excel import utility, customer data must be re‑exported to ObjAcct before users can
effectively access Events and Customer related functionality.
