Taking Responsible Risks

(Being adventuresome, living on the edge of one’s competence,
trying new things constantly)

• Marie is reluctant to try new methods of approach to tasks. I would
encourage her to be prepared to attempt new and different techniques.
• Marie approaches new tasks fearlessly. She is to be commended for her willingness to try new
activities.
• Marie appears afraid of failure and this prevents her from being adventurous in her approach
to tasks.
• Marie often misses opportunities for learning because she is fearful of taking intellectual risks.
• Marie has learnt that it is acceptable to take a risk with a new technique, even if there is the
possibility of failure.
• Marie is prepared to take educated risks to solve new problems.

do the work.
• Marie is a good group leader as she facilitates the decision-making process in a fair and just
way.
• While Marie appears to enjoy group work, she must ensure she contributes positively and does
not distract others from the task at hand.
